Today we said farewell to our dearest friend, most passionate supporter and one of our biggest contributors to the 10,000 Toes Campaign, Mel Lemke.   Mel was always finding ways to help us with our fundraising and was excited to share his ideas on how he could help us reach more people with our important health message.

Mel was involved with the 10,000 Toes Campaign for 3 years, and as he worked tirelessly to help us find donors, we are proud and grateful to say that his heartfelt efforts have directly and indirectly changed many people’s lives. We all knew that Mel had a desire to walk the Camino de Santiago Walk in Spain and raise awareness for diabetes. He had to delay his first attempt because of COVID-19 but he had his heart set on next year. This was the Mel we loved. The one that always thought of others and even wanted to turn his next adventure into an awareness campaign.

Words cannot describe our sadness as we pay tribute to a wonderful man, a loving father/grandfather and a dear friend to us all.  We send our condolences to the Lemke family and we hope you will join us in paying respects to an incredible man whose caring heart was full of love. Relive some special memories with Mel in the following video.
