Not much is really said about the goodness of adding asparagus into your diet but its benefits will surely not disappoint. Asparagus belongs to the lily family and is low in calories yet high in essential vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants such as folate (great for pregnancy and child development), rich in vitamin A, C & K. It assists in weight loss, improves digestion as it contains high amount soluble fibre and helps lower your blood pressure, of which is a risk factor for strokes and heart disease. Because asparagus is a good source of potassium it helps maintain heart health and prevent disease.


340g asparagus spears
1 clove of garlic
1 tbsp ground almonds
dash of paprika


Place all ingredients into a food processor or blender and process until smooth

Step 2
If too thick, add a small amount of water

Step 3
Pour into a saucepan and boil until mixture reaches desired consistency

Step 4
Pour over steamed vegetables

Optional: garnish with flaked almonds
