The 10,000 Toes Campaign recently significantly impacted the Watson Park Conference Centre in South Queensland, Australia. During a vibrant annual community camping event, we set up a dedicated stand to promote our health mission.
We sold our signature merchandise, including popular colourful socks, thongs, fresh honey, delicious healthy treats and fun games, to help raise funds for our ongoing efforts to prevent diabetes across the South Pacific.
The event allowed attendees to learn more about the campaign’s mission and how they can contribute to this vital cause. Volunteers at the stand engaged with visitors, sharing insights into the growing diabetes epidemic and emphasising the importance of prevention and early intervention.
Raising Awareness Through Community Engagement
Mrs Pamela Townend, Campaign Co-ordinator, presented The 10,000 Toes Campaign as a key speaker under the big tent and during various workshops and was interviewed for the local radio station.
“We are thrilled with the response we received at Watson Park,” she said. “It’s heartening to see so many people eager to join the movement and make a difference. Every donation and merchandise purchase helps us fund programs that educate communities and provide early intervention resources.”
“Our merchandise was a hit among attendees, with many purchasing items as unique gifts while supporting a meaningful cause. We are grateful to all the supporters who made generous donations and the passionate individuals who attended our workshops and key talks during the week-long event.”
A Call to Action for a Healthier Future
We tested event attendees’ toes at our stand each afternoon in exchange for a gold coin donation. The powerful Doppler devices, donated by Matthew Wolfe and WolfMed, help monitor foot circulation and are currently used at South Pacific health clinics. Learn more about these devices here.
These efforts raised critical funds for our current “Adopt a Wellness Clinic” fundraising project in the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea. Learn more about this initiative here.
