The theme for this year’s 10,000 Toes Campaign Health Week was “Breaking Chains.”

It’s a call to break free from all forms of addiction and unhealthy habits that harm our physical, mental, and emotional health.

This year’s focus went beyond drugs and alcohol. Many people are also affected by behavioural addictions like overeating, screen time, toxic relationships, and negative self-talk. These “chains” often go unnoticed but can deeply impact our well-being.

As Pamela Townend, Health Coordinator for the South Pacific, explained:

Addiction can show up in many different ways, not just the ones we typically think of. Health Week is about starting conversations and supporting each other toward freedom and healing.

Communities across Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific came together to share this message through discussions, walking groups, and local gatherings.

It’s a call to break free from all forms of addiction and unhealthy habits that harm our physical, mental, and emotional health.

Throughout the week, we shared daily tips on social media to inspire better health, hope, and personal growth. Here’s a look at the journey to finding freedom:

Day 1: Let’s Talk Mental Health – We started the week by encouraging open conversations around mental health. A simple check-in today with someone can start breaking the silence.

Day 2: Building Confidence – We focused on small steps to overcome self-doubt.

Day 3: Creating Hope for the Next Generation – One act of healing today can inspire those around us.

Day 4: Healthy Relationships Matter – We reminded everyone they deserve relationships that bring peace.

Day 5: Asking for Help is Brave – Reaching out for support is a powerful step. You’re not alone. Let’s help each other.

Day 6: Move Through Fear – Fear doesn’t define us. We can keep going. Take a breath and move forward.

Day 7: Rest is Essential – Rest is not a luxury. It’s a part of staying strong. Rest isn’t a reward. It’s how we stay well.

The Chains Begin to Break

Health Week may be over, but the journey to better health continues. Chains don’t break in a day, but each small step matters.

If something this week gave you hope or helped you pause and reflect, we invite you to share these messages with your family and friends. You never know who might need them.

Stay strong. Stay hopeful. Keep breaking those chains.
